Florida Just Saw An Insane Number Of Deadly Semi-Truck Accidents

On February 23rd, it was reported that a semi-truck had gone up in flames after swerving off the road and colliding with a group of trees. The resulting fire then claimed the life of the trucker inside. Although this was certainly a tragedy, no one else was hurt by the fire. It may have been that the trucker fell asleep behind the wheel or became distracted – a common occurrence in the industry.

Motorcyclist Struck and Killed by Semi-Truck in St. Petersburg 

On March 2nd, a motorcyclist was struck and killed by a semi-truck while crossing the Sunshine Skyway Bridge near St. Petersburg. Initially, the motorcyclist rear-ended an SUV and was thrown from his bike. Next, he was run over by a semi-truck. The implication here is that the semi-truck was following too closely. This is a common issue – especially when you consider the fact that semi-trucks have extremely long braking distances.

Multiple Injuries and Deaths Reported in Miami Semi-Truck Explosion 

Semi-truck explosions represent some of the worst accidents in this overall category. On February 21st, two deaths and three injuries were reported after a semi-truck exploded in Miami. The first explosion came from what appears to be a fuel tanker truck, and this caused a chain reaction that led to two other vehicles igniting and exploding.
