I frequently get asked by workers’ compensation clients how long it takes to receive their money after settling a case. Unlike personal injury cases, workers’ compensation settlements must be approved by a judge, which makes the process a bit longer. After you and the insurance company agree to a settlement, paperwork must be submitted to the workers’ compensation judge for approval. Because of this extra step, it typically takes about four to six weeks from the date of settlement until you receive and can deposit your check.
