Young Boy Injured At Disney World

Amuse7

Disney World has certainly seen its fair share of lawsuits over the years, and the entire Disney company is now fighting a prolonged legal battle with the State of Florida due to a number of issues. Meanwhile, innocent people continue to suffer serious injuries on Disney World rides. One of the latest victims is a young boy who was apparently hurt on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. But what exactly can you do if you were injured at Disney World, and how can you strive for the compensation you deserve?

Parents Sue After Boy Injured On Popular Disney World Ride

On December 20th, it was reported that the parents of an injured child were suing Disney World for an incident that occurred on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. According to the lawsuit, this ride malfunctioned and left guests strapped into the coaster while they waited to be rescued. One of these guests was a teen who had been paralyzed by a shooting earlier in his life. His condition means that he is especially vulnerable to injuries and other medical concerns.

When a first responder finally arrived to remove the teen from the malfunctioning ride, they attempted to lift him out of the seats and restraints. However, they overextended his right leg, causing it to snap at the knee. The lawsuit states that he suffered a “right distal femur supracondylar fracture” as a result of this treatment. Fortunately, Disney settled the lawsuit very quickly and offered the family an undisclosed sum.

Ironically, the teen was sent to Disney World by a charity called Magic Moments. The trip was supposed to help the teen get over the trauma and physical pain of his shooting. However, it led to even more issues and injuries. The teen was shot when his brother opened fire in their home, killing his father in the process.

How the Reedy Creek Improvement District Affects Disney Lawsuits

It’s worth mentioning that the Reedy Creek Improvement District gives Disney almost government-like powers in a specific area near Orlando. This can potentially make it difficult to sue the company, and many injured plaintiffs have been denied adequate compensation because the company simply falls back on its authority within that district. However, the company could lose these quasi-government powers, as Governor Ron DeSantis is trying to take them away. As a result, it could become easier to sue Disney in the future for injuries at Disney World.
