Home Builder Faces Lawsuit For “Shoddy Construction”

DrivewayFlood

Building a new home is often one of life’s most rewarding experiences. You can customize the home to your specific preferences and create the house of your dreams. Unfortunately, sometimes a new home turns into a nightmare. These homes break down over time, fail to stand up to the elements, and generally turn out to be a poor investment. But these “shoddy homes” can cause much more than just financial losses. In certain cases, a badly-constructed home can lead to serious injuries. This was obviously the case for a few homeowners in Florida who are now suing a home builder for the injuries they have sustained.

If you have suffered an injury due to poor home construction or any other accident that was caused by someone else’s negligence, it makes sense to get in touch with a qualified, experienced personal injury attorney in Florida. These legal professionals can help you strive towards a fair, adequate settlement for your various damages. These damages might include lost wages, medical expenses, and emotional distress. It’s best to book your consultation as soon as possible due to the statute of limitations.

Builder and Contractor Sued for Injuries in Palm Beach Court

On March 24th, it was reported that an injured homeowner was suing a contractor and a home builder in Palm Beach County, claiming that their shoddy work led directly to his injury. The plaintiff states that he slipped and fell in his garage due to the fact that it was accumulating water seeping in from the outside. This incident occurred all the way back in 2018 – a year after he had purchased the home for about $900,000.

The lawsuit accuses the home builder and contractor of failing in its duty to address any safety concerns during the construction process. Specifically, the lawsuit states that the obvious safety issue should have been corrected before the home was finished and sold to the plaintiff. Specifically, the lawsuit states that the defendants:

“Failed to build the driveway, dwelling, and garage in a safe manner; failed to build the paver driveway and slope of the paver driveway in a safe manner; failed to construct the new home in a safe manner so that water, rain, and/or liquid did not drain and accumulate in the garage; failed to build the garage floor in a safe manner; failed to build the dwelling and garage in a safe manner so that water and rain did not drain, and accumulated in the garage; and failed to repair the water draining issue after being put on notice.”
